I grew up reading myths and legends.

Arthurian tales were a big favorite, I think the flawed nature of mankind overcoming the best efforts of might and magic and leading Arthur to an ignominous death says it all.

Perhaps a little too much honesty for some to cope with and hence we get the tacky tacked on messiah ending of ‘he’s just asleep really.’ I never bought into that bit.

Still, the lady of the lake appeals, after all who woudn’t want a mystical woman giving them a big magic sword?
